iTunes 7 is out

I like it better.
Got it last night when I was prompted to get it when I fired up the older version.

It has a cool 3D album look when you put it into that mode, and you can grab and spin the albums and it shows you what is in them.

Bug!
http://www.pnw4runners.com/temp/itunes7.jpg

Before with the older version I could leave my Creative card at CMSS, that sounds the best.

Now with it at that setting, iTunes only plays through 2 of my 5 speakers (sub still works.)

To get it to play in 5.1 sound with all speakers, I must choose CMSS 2 which I do not like.
Classic CMSS sounds better, but of course with iTunes only two speakers play.

Before with the older iTunes all speakers played on CMSS.

With Windows Media Player and WinAmp, I get all speakers playing on any setting.

Leave it to Apple to screw up their new iTunes.
I will only use iTunes to download music and organzize my iPod.

I did use it for music too, but not anymore, they goofed big time.
Still it has a few nifty features, but it you run a Creative card like I am, you may run into this snafu when you are use to using CMSS.

I may go back to six, but I bet we have to wipe out 7, deauthorize the PC, then load 6?
I do not even have 6 anymore.

Apple, ya goofed!

Playback was bugged for me, made everything full of static. I went back to 6.0.

Yeah, I change my point of view on it now.
Is the updated 6 available anywhere for download?

Alan, it is 34 MB
Comcast email only accepts around 5 MB at a time.

I will try that link above my post first.

I see this site, but I do not trust it.
http://www.free-download-site.com/itunes/

To much spyware on the 'Net.

I will suck it up and email Apple and demand they give my 6 back.

Thanks Mike, now another question.

If I take off 7, will it take off the new QuickTime too?
I do not wanna do that, nothing wrong with it.

The new QT is 7.13.
The older iTunes has QT 7.03, an older one.

There's a great little feature in iTunes. It's up in the menus...."Provide iTunes Feedback"

So far, iTunes for OSX has been flawless on my Intel Macbook.
Sucks to have Windows.

Apples response to my email
Dear Corey,

I understand that you would like to revert back to iTunes 6.0. Unfortunately to
buy music from the iTunes Store, you need to have the latest version of iTunes.

Thank you for being an iTunes Store customer. Apple appreciates your business.
So it looks like I will have to keep 7 since I "legally" get my tunes now.

Taking a quick break from washing my rig, I heard outside my inbox had email.
Someone saw the thread here that is not a member, and has the fix for the Creative CMSS bug I found after installing iTunes 7.

I will try the fix after I get done with my rig.
Not a member, but I am a pc tech and found a fix for iTunes 7 not working with Creative Audigy CMSS...

Control Panel -> QuickTime -> Audio -> [x] Safe Mode (wave out only)

Apparently iTunes 7 directsound output was the problem,

I bet it will also help with other audio problems...

Please share in this thread:

OK, I tried his fix, it did not work.
CMSS 1 still only plays out two speakers with iTunes.

Selecting CMSS 2 will do all, but the sound is not as good as classic #1.

I also have another snafu with iTunes now since upgrading.
Whenever I click the shortcut in the Taskbar or in my Start menu, it reinstalls iTunes and runs through the setup process.

And it puts a shortcut on my desktop each time.

What the hell is Apple smoking these days?

I have seen a lot of bugs in my days of computers, but nothing like this version 7.

Update:
The guy who sent me the email sent me some ore info.
Snafu solved.

My setting in QuickTime was also set to stereo, and not 5.1.

Make sure your settings are:

Sound Out

Rate 48 kHz

Size 24 bit

Channels 5.1 (L R C LFE Ls Rs)

That will fix the snafu with CMSS not outputting in 5.1 surround sound with the new version of iTunes.

Is anyone else having a problem with importing more than 2 or 3 files at a time? If i try to import more than about 3 songs at a time, it wont import ANY of them. By import I mean adding to iTunes from limewire. It doesnt bring up an error or anything, you just click it and it ignores you.
