How to save a streaming file .asx
Hello,
I am trying to same some videos to my harddrive and they are the windows media and or quicktime ones that open in the browser. I can find their location using the viewsource and get it like that, but then the players say they can not read the file type??
any help ?
Oh yeah and once i do it, is there a free program out there that will let me edit or add clips together to make a montage of wmv type files?

Most of those file types use the streaming method with your browser.
What I do is first clear my browsers cache out then go listen to the file again.
Then browse your temp folder for your browsers temp files, and the "real" file will be in there.
This works most of the time.
As far as stitching them together, if you are running XP, you already have a program called Movie Maker which will do this for you.
You can add several clips, pics, ect, then save it as a WMV file and also choose the compression on it so you can email it, or make it a bit bigger for a website, or huge for the best quality if you only intend on viewing it from your PC.
