Ten Four.
I played on that one for awhile, but the server admin changed the max headcount to 8 people
That is not enough.

I like servers that have 16 or more spots available.
Is the name you have lsited above the one I would enter into the Steam Friends list?
I find though that the Friends feature is not reliable.

I added Jeremy just fine last week, yet I can not add a friend of mine who lives close by.
That thing is buggy I think.

I found a few other good servers, here is one, but I think it is death match only, and not teams.
http://www.nwgamers.com/

I will look later for another good one I was on.

Yea i noticed it was only 8 players.I played it a little bit, hoping that you might show up but it was kinda boring with only 8 other people playing. Yea you can put someduder into your friends list.I added you to mine, but it always showed you being offline.

Do not trust that friends list.
I just added you to mine, and set it up to alert me when you entered a game or game online.

The reason I say do not trust it, as I added Jeremy last week, and now he does not even show up on the list.

Steam deleted my list.
It is buggy and should be classified as betaware.

Jeremy, I was on and on quite a bit the other day.
I may play some today.
I need your username again to add it to the Friends Steam list.

you would think with as long as they've had steam released the problems would be ironed out by now. Its not like this is a low budget project or something.

I pm'd you my details again.

its a relatively new game, but they had the steam program that runs friends in full public beta for like a year before they released HL2 .

Corey, do you have a new server you play on now?

Yes I do.
I will have to fire up the game later and post a screen shot of the IPs.

Two of them are in the Northwest here, and reflect that in their name.

Hopefully my favorite server ups their count from 8 to 16 or higher again.
Eight is simply to low.

Jeremy, here is a pic of the server list from my faves.
Server list

The Garage Sale was my fave, but that is the one that has been cut back to 8 players.

The Northwest Lemon Party is a pretty good one, along with the Omega one.
I will probably be on the former one later today sometime off & on.

Most cool

I am sure most of you Half Life and Counter Strike players who use Steam already had the pop up news panel alert you to the updates for these two games, but if not, we are in for a treat.

Friday, February 11 2005

In advance of the Counter-Strike: Source update we've mentioned here recently, we'll be releasing an update for Half-Life 2: Deathmatch.
This update will include two new weapons (the StunStick and the Slam) as well as a return of the trusty crowbar.
We've decided to also include a new map called "Steam Lab."

Here are a few images:

Right around the same time, we'll be releasing the source code to Half-Life 2: Deathmatch in the SDK.

This release will happen some time next week. Right now, we're shooting for Thursday the 17th.

And just a quick note for those of you who have been asking -- yes, VAC 2 is coming.

I need a little help here. I spent $55 and didn't get any directions. Called the company and spoke with some "foreigner" and was basically told tough ÅÅÅÅ as there's no directions; you're on your own. Still having problems understanding that logic. I have found this game way over my head without directions and a few tips here and there like giving attack commands to friendly forces - I've never made so many saves in my entire life as I have on this single game - of course, I never played half life 1, otherwise I probably couldn't say that. After three weeks of frustration, I'm currently completely stuck/stumped on the tram episode, that's where you finally stumble across the transport pods and get a long ride only to lose all your weapons with the exception of the gravity gun and you no longer can jump using the space key. Everything is dead-ended. All the troopers are dead, I tore off the screen on the wall, tried to stack dead bodies etc. to walk over the gates - can't jump the damn gates, can't crawl through the gates, can't pull anything with the gun, can't shut any force fields down. How do I get through this little episode? How many hours do I have left before I get to the end?

Ditto, I can help as well.

Also, you may want to look at one or more of the various HL2 walk-throughs that are around the 'net.

And, as for how much longer you have in the game... Dude, you're right at the beginning. You have a LONG way to go.

Here's where I'm at & this might be my problem. I didn't watch his entire speech and I've got that glitch because I can't jump that ramp. I'll try again tonight but I've gone back to a previously saved time period and it didn't help my problem of not being able to jump. With all the info you guys gave me I'll finish this game up before next week - if I can get out of this particular level. Thanks for all the help - sure wish I'd posted when I purchased this bad boy.

13.4: Where do I go now?
- Follow the path. It should be pretty linear and have a little
resistance. But now that you are a walking tank of death, it shouldn't
be any problems. Watch the entire Dr. Breen speech. A glitch that
can happen here is that you can't jump. That is a problem since past
the terminal Dr. Breen is gloating from. You have to jump the ramp.

Update: I've received many e-mails about this glitch and simply
the only solution is to restart the level and hope it is not
fragged. Please report the glitch to Steampowered.com so that
the devs will patch it.

Ahh... okay, I know where you are now. I had to go back through the walk-throughs a few times to remember. You're actually very close to the end!

I didn't have an issue with the glitch they're talking about, but from what you say, it certainly looks like you do. Dern it!

The only thing I can think of is to keep going back farther through your saves until you can get to this point and still have jump capabilities. Past that, there's a cheat that will let you "fly"... you can use that to get past the ramp, then turn it off. The problem though may be that you still won't have jump later, and yes, you'll need it in the next (and final!) chapter.

Steam News

Not sure if all of you HL2 players have your Steam set to bring up news force fed to you, but here is waht came out today, and I like the part about them identifying cheaters on the servers.

There are to many of them on Counter Strike Source, and some hacking HL2 multiplayer too.
I hate cheaters, they should have their PCs smashed.

Friday, March 25 2005

Next week we'll begin beta testing the new Valve Anti-Cheat system. For people playing multiplayer games, there will not be any visible difference while we're conducting the beta, but we will be logging cheating violations into our database to make sure it's ready for general release. This will be the last public notice before the system is released and active for everyone.

If you have any cheats for multiplayer games installed on your computer, now would be a good time to uninstall and stop using them. When a cheat infraction is detected, the offender will be permanently banned from playing on secure servers.

In lighter news, work is progressing on Lost Coast, that is the level we've built to showcase a new piece of rendering technology coming to Source called High Dynamic Range lighting, first mentioned here.
http://www.steampowered.com/Steam/Marketing/Feb4.2005/

Valve's Doug Lombardi will be showing the level on G4 TV next Wednesday, March 30th. More information on the broadcast is available here.
