fan on laptop

The fan on my laptop turns on for a few seconds, then turns off and it keeps doing this for an extended period of time. Is this something I need to be worried about?

thanks

check your power/temp settings. Although that seems a bit spastic it normally would cycle between a high/low on/off etc based on internal temp. (saves batery that way)

sounds normal. the fans in all the laptops I've owned have been temperature sensitive.

If i'm surfing the web the fan hardly ever comes on. If I start playing a game or watching movies it will never shut off....

yea, as they all say thats normal... it only comes on when needed. I would recommend preventative maintenance and get a can of compressed air to keep the heatsink clean and stop dust from building up in the fins. but, if you find that the fan is on more and more, then take that as a definate sign to get it cleaned.
