I am currently unable to use my cd drive. It will not open most of the time and when it does, I insert a disk but it will not read it. I got a digital camera and was trying to load a disk so I could show some pics of my new house. I assume the drive is bad, correct? Are they easy to replace? Or should I let a professional do it? By the way, I have a Dell with windows 98SE. Thanks.

 

May wont to pop the cover off and check the cable connections be sure its all tight going to the back of the drive and down to the motherboard, and If its still problematic replace it easy to do a few screws, power connector and a IDE ribbon cable 15-30mins tops and thats for a newbie
