Audio output from PC to stereo or TV

I already have audio out from my PC to my TV with my TV tuner card/sound card, so I can watch shows I record on my PC to my TV.

But for those of you who do not have a TV tuner card and just want to play your MP3 collection you have on your PC to your stereo or a good TV with a decent sound setup, I ran across a cool cable this morning.

It lets you unplug your PC speakers from the sound card, plug in this cable, replug your PC speakers back in again, and run the red & white RCA plugs to your TV or stereo inputs.

You can do this with cabling from Radio Shack too, but this cable eliminates having to buy a Y cable, and just run this one.

are there any problems with sound quality. i have an older computer and looked at a product that attaches through my usb port and guarantees good sound quality. Or, depending on the sound card (i'll have to check) can i just adjust the sound quality, feedback, etc right from the card? that looks nice!

I am not up on USB.
But running my sound card from the PC to my TV set to watch back shows I PVR, the sound is excellent.

What are your PC specs, and what kind of sound card?
You do not want to run your volume full blast with the main volume control.
I have that set to around 85%, and the other volumes cranked 100%.

I've had my computer hooked upto my stereo for years, wouldn't have it any other way. Those tiny PC speakers can't compare (or vibrate the entire house).

To garentee good sound quality requires alot of fine print.....this cable that corey is showing is the sound, all there is too it....BUT it might be underpowered to larger speakers.....as will the USB, UNLESS the device you are looking at includes an amp, in that case that will be better for a larger speaker...

It is to take the sound from your PC and play it out of your stereo system if you have one that is louder than your PC speakers.

I on the other hand have some of the best PC speakers out there, the Logitech Z680s.
500 watts of true power with an 8" sub that shakes the whole place.
It is 5.1 surround.

The only reason I am running audio to my TV set from the PC is because I PVR with my PC.

The best way to get true sound qualty out of a pc is to have a sound card with some sort of digital out either optical out, spd/if or ac3. Then hook that to either optical in or coax digtal in on your reciver kinda like the digital out on 99% of todays dvd players. Anything else is simply a patch and make it sorta work set up. In that case stick with your pc speakers
I have a creative audigy the first generation and it has digital out and have had it hooked to my reciever for years now. Anyone who hears it think I'm playing a cd
