The Mapscource software that comes with my cs60 sucks. Which software does anyone recommend? I am looking for street and topo.

Hello. Will you be running a laptop in your truck? If so there are many options, none of them are cheap or simple. But they do allow you powerful on board mapping capability.

I have a couple LEO's in my office set up with a mobile mapping system that shows their position on an aerial photograph with land ownership, roads, trails, mile markers etc. Data is easy to get these days. There should be excellent aerial photography for free in Iowa.

Your correct, what you have is horrid, however look for a copy of Mapsource City Select. It will be more difficult to find a copy you can unlock for your GPS since it is dicontinued, but they can be had. You get two unlock codes (i.e. can use two different GPS's) with the software. Additional codes can be had for $50 to $75 in case you get a REAL good deal on the software. Their TOPO maps are still current and done fairly well.

City Select has been replaced by City Navigator. It uses biger map sections so I am not sure how well it will work for the 60CS.

my combo is microsoft STREET AND TRIPS for directions, turn by turn.

i also have delorme's TOPO USA if and when i need that data.

i also have delorme's STREET ATLAS, but i really hate the way delorme draws their data on the screen, plus the kb controls of the S&T is much easier to use while driving and laptop on pass seat...
