I haven't noticed any channel swing issues with my ss-39 superstar either. But again no freq tuner and it's putting out as much as the 3900. 40W on HI.

Mine supposedly weighs about 6 lbs as well. A Little much for where I have it mounted. On the glovebox door.

The only other option I would've had would be to mount it in the radio bay. But this radio is all chrome..it's meant to be seen.

Or..I could get a hump mount and modify the radio bay to allow room for the radio...hmm...

actually, if the hump mount is secured to the floor, most hump mounts are pretty sturdy (especially if you get one of the units from galls or other LEO equipment sites). then you can still have the radio visible, and keep your radio in the oem opening.

only thing is something that chromed out (especially if people know what it is) is just going to invite theft.

Unless I can find one that will secure it with a key, or maybe use security bolts to mount the radio...

Well, can't seem to find a hump mount that works. Maybe I'll go with this mount

I think maybe it's a little better than hanging it from one screw on the side of the radio bay.

^^ that's one of the ones i was looking at as well - IIRC, some models have swivel/tilt features as well, and bolt right to the floor or to seat rails (some have custom applications).
