iPaq 4155 and HP Bluetooth GPS Receiver
I got a iPaq pocket PC for my business (family friend works for HP
) and recently added the HP Bluetooth GPS setup.
Anyone have this setup?
Currently to use it, I have to turn bluetooth on on the PDA, choose the connection, manually connect, and then start the software. Is there a way with the iPaq (or pocket PC's) to do a batch routine that activates everything when I launch the Nav software?
I'm a newbie to Pocket PC's...

Cebby,
Not really familar with the HP bluetooth GPS setup, but I do use my IPaq 3765 with a Navman SE GPS sleeve. My setup is configured to automatically go to gps on startup, I would assume yours could be configured to do the same. I'll do some checking at work, our system ops manager has a HP bluetooth setup.

I'm pretty sure that theres a setting in the Nav configuration to tell it to boot up to the GPS...I work at Circuit City and we get a lot of questions about the whole GPS thing with the PDA's.
I'll look tomorrow when I go to work and see what I can find out,

Sorry I hadn't gotten back to you sooner Cebby, been real busy. Checked with our system ops man at work and he said he'd look into it but hasn't yet. I'll try to get you an answer, just thought I'd check in.

Thanks Dublin. I've been using it alot and have gotten into the right sequence pretty easily. It has been pretty good - except for it telling me to go left when the map says go right...

Cebby, you may already know about this site, but I'll go ahead and post it anyway;

They have a pretty good forum over there. I'm sure they could answer your question.

X2and4x,
Love my set up for so many reasons. It was an inexpensive way to have a portable gps, I already had the iPaq, I already had several compact flash cards, the gps back pack accomadates my compact flash WiFi when I need it, and I still use my iPaq for personal and work related use. After looking at several mounting devices I found what worked best for me as a good veiwable location and easily reachable as well as still totally portable and very secure was to place the iPaq in my cup holder and attach a small strip of velcro to the back where it rests against the dash. It doesn't budge a bit the angle is perfect and it removes easily. it would be nice to have a built in with a larger screen, but for me it does a great job.

The one down side of using the iPaq with a gps receiver is that it is a power hog. I can get only about 30 minutes on the battery, although it could be because of the age of my particular iPaq.
