Installing my Firestick 2...questions
I have read the info on the Firestick site so please don't redirect me to there.
On my 04 4x4 Sport.....
I am playing around with possibilities (in my head) for the mounting location of the antenna.
I am considering three locations on the front drivers fender where existing bolts are located:
1. Front leading edge of drivers-side fender (near headlight)
2. Mid-way along drivers-side fender
3. Trailing edge of drivers-side fender (near windscreen)
Also considering mounting directly behind the side carry rail on the roof (drivers side) which means....gasp
drilling into the roof
where the side rail has a plastic cover that can be pulled up and a channel exists for the side carry rail. It's a perfect fit for the mount, in dimensions, and aerodynamically and visually (as it sits behind the carry rail).
Questions:
If I mount it at the front location of the fender is it likely to be more directional than in the middle of the fender?
If I mount it at the trailing edge of the fender will it get resistance from being too close to the windscreen?
Am I mad for considering mounting it on the roof and therefore having to drill holes into my beuatiful truck
?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Mark
