KE7NCL Fallon,NV 2/70cm Mobile and 10through 160 base station

and you can also go to QRZ.com and ARRL.org to get info and also find out about clubs in your area also QRZ.com has practice tests online you can take to help you out with the test cost of the Test is usually around 14 dollars and as soon as your license is posted in the FCC data base you can start transmitting on the air.but i do recommend listening for abit so you get an idea as to how you wanna cunduct yourself on air

I live in Colorado Springs as well, but don't normally like to post up my call sign since anyone who knows how can get your address from it. I'm always on the 97 when driving. I have a Kenwood 2m/70cm in my 4Runner and my XJ. I also carry my VR-1 if I need to go more mobile than that.

I passed the exam 2 weeks ago, applied for my license and requested VE7EGC as a call sign. Now if the government would get off their collective rears and send me the paperwork I could go and buy some new toys. Hope to be on the air soon.

numerous places (okay... HRO for me) sells equipment to anyone.

remember, self policing is the issue here.

granted, if you sound like an idiot at the HRO store, they'll probably give you a hard time.

when i my no code techie license a few years ago, i went to HRO and told them i just passed my test and they were very helpful getting me what i wanted. and that was a yaesu HT vx-7r.

btw, when you passed the test, the testing place should have given you a piece paper stating that you did pass the test...

granted, i wouldnt start transmitting until you actually get your call sign. and these days, you can continually check the FCC site for your license.

KG6xxx myself...

VE7EGC is now officially on the air. Got the call sign today. I've already installed an Alinco DR635 in the truck last week so now I can legally send as well as listen.

KC2SZR Here - Buffalo, NY

I actually stumbled on this forum looking at the install on the FJ Cruiser for the ICOM208 that the desert racers did. I am going to be installing an Yaesu FT-8800. I picked it up for it's ability to act as a cross band repeater. I work in communications and am up in some very remote areas in the Adirondacks so I wanted the ability to boost my hand held from inside a site and throw it up to a repeater.

Also this is my first post....

Any advice for installing radios in an 85 pickup? I'm having a difficult time. Also I cant seem to get the dash covering on the passenger side off. I thought I removed all the bolts, and I need to access heater controls anyways, one isn't attached or something.
