GARMIN GPSMAP 60 CS Questions.
I am looking at getting a GPS soon and was wondering if anyone had the Garmin GPSMAP 60CS?
If so, How do you like it? Would you buy it again if you had the chance or would you buy another type? Is it hard to see the color screen in the sun( like magelin is?)
and post picturs please

I"m currently using a 60c, which is the same thing without the compass and barometer. The color screen is fine in sunlight. This is a good little unit that does a lot of stuff. If you are planning on using it on the road a lot, the optional sotware gives you turn-by-turn directions, pretty cool. I'm a dealer so I get to try a lot of these out, and if I were to buy something right now I would probably go for the Garmin map76c, or if you want to spend a bunch of money the 276c. The map76c is the same basic thing as the 60c but the case is different and the screen is just a hair bigger. I just like the look and feel of it better, but it is $50 more. It does not support turn-by-turn so it's really a matter of where you will use it the most, go for the 60c series if you use it on the road, but both are good choices.

Garmin GPSmap 60C - Love it....
Just wanted to add my thoughts on the GPSmap 60C... I think it is a great unit that covers both on and off road adventures. I purchased the USA Topo and it is good enough to navigate some off road trails. The basemap is great too. It contains a ton of information on businesses at all the exits off of freeways. I love driving along the freeway knowing what restaurant or gas station is at the next exit. The turn by turn directions are pretty darn good. I don't think they are perfect but I have no complaints...... I have thought about the street map software but can't justify the cost right now. All I need now is a decent mount in the 4Runner..... Oh yea, screen is great sunlight or not. Battery life is fantastic. Not sure what to post pictures of.... Would I buy one again.... in a heartbeat....

I own and use a 60cs almost daily for in car navigation, hiking and marine. I would recommend the unit to anyone who wants a robust water resistant gps that is good at everything. It is the first electronic device that I have used with a screen you can read in direct sunlight, the menus are easy to navigate and when hard mounted in the truck it it is very easy to read and use without having to lean in. It is so easy to use that when on the water navigating to a waypoint, I use the 60cs instead of the $$$$$$ Raytheon chart plotter. GET IT YOU WILL LOVE IT!

The 60C and the 60CS (which is what I have) are great units. I love mine. I took it over to a buddy house the other day to compare mine and his, and his looked like a toy compared to mine. The color screens are great, the CS as a compass that really comes in handy. If you use the Ciity Select software, you can get some really detail maps! The only thing I wished, was that it came with a better battery option. I use mine a lot, and it drain the batteries pretty fast, even faster then the C version. I think I got maybe 15-18 hours out of it. I bought the mobel DC adapter, that works great! I used it from Boston to Wisconsin, and never lost a beat!

Heheh, good point! Don't get me wrong, the 60CS is a very awesome unit, I wouldn't replace mine for the World, but if it had a shortcoming, it would be battery life. I second the 12V power cord, like I said before, I drove all the way from Boston to Wisconsin with mine plugged into one, without one problem!

My advice to anyone using a GPS in a vehicle, the $30 12V power cord is money well spent.
