To use the Marine stuff, you need to buy and download the BlueChart marine charts. I just sailed a 275 mile offshore race last weekend and we navigated the entire course with a Garmin GPSMap 76 and a Magellan Meridian Marine, except for using actual paper hourly tide charts. Unless you are boating in coastal areas, the marine stuff will be useless to you.
I cruised the 60C manual and did not see where ocean temperature would display. Temperature info is available from the ocean buoys though (I sailed past one about 30 miles offshore last Friday,) so maybe it displays on the 60C when using marine chartplotting. It doesn't display temperature readings (ocean or air) on any of my GPS units though, and I use Marine BlueChart (and also Magellan BlueNav) on my boats. (I have a Garmin GPSMap 176 and a Magellan Meridian Marine, and six boats. I used to have an Etrex legend but the display was too small to be usefull for me.)
Temperature (local air temp, not sea temp) may also be a feature for the 60CS? "S" for sensors?
