CB Hell

1994 Toyota 4Runner

Have a CB installed, power is good. I also have a whip and everything is good. Now, I don't have a PA speaker and went to both Car Toys and Radioshack and was told they don't carry them anywhere but online any longer.

Was hoping to have it up and going before this saturday's run but I guess not. I have a pair of 3.5mm headphones I jacked into both the PA and the EXT. ports to ensure I got feed-back but I just hear a hummm in the xternal no matter the channel and I do get feedback from mic through the PA port.

ANy way I can rig a house speaker? or one of the door speakers into it as a short term fix?

Alan

Hey there man.

I have a buddy up in Marin in an old Jeep G-Cherokee who used a single 'klaxion' type warning P/A, like one from a residential application in a school or something and it worked just fine! Also, I've another FJ60 buddy who uses a large Motorola speaker for his.

I'd suggest trying it out, but my suggestion might meet with some flaming...

But, what's a better way to learn then trying it?

Also the big siren speakers for home alarms do work!! Or the external alarms or cars.

Do you have a truck stop nearby? That's probably yer best bet for a 'I want it now' solution.

Most of your mobile audio places that install car stereos carry the small pa stuff you are looking for.
