Do you have a write up on how to install the CB there and what type of CB you used?

Well, I would have to buy a new aftermarket one, which would cost quite a bit more than a used stocker out of a later model. I have an alpine now, but I'd like to get a Toyota double din head unit that has a tape deck so I can plug in that way. It sounds much better than my FM transmitter that I use now, but then again, it also charges it. I will probably do nothing since i have other things to spend money on.

Which brings me to something else. i think I'm going to eventually buy a yakima load warrior like yours. Did you buy anything else to go with it as far as mounting? Cause I notice that it comes with the things to attatch it to stock rails.

So I got my radio and antenna mounted. However I do not have very good signal. I can hear some truckers talking (I'm right by the interstate) but I also can hear my door buzzer, my truck (engine), both of these are coming through the radio. I wired it into the cigarette lighter.

Do I need a filter or what else is wrong?

Okay, first of all...that is one PISSED looking dog in your avatar.

Second, try wiring through a different source. That will let you know if it is just the wires you picked or if you need a filter.

I never had problems with interference from the radio or engine with it wired directly to the battery. I wouldn't worry about it draining it either, I left mine on for days at a time on accident several times and it was fine.

The only reason I could never hear is because my truck is just loud in the interior when on the interstate. Between the exaust and tire noise It was hard to hear my CB. Plus, you can't pick up much while moving that fast. It was great for traffic jams though.

I might also mention, that my friend charges his Ipod through the cig. lighter and it makes this whining noise that is linked to the transmission. It leads me to believe that anything audio that is wired with it doesn't work so well.

the cigg lighter power probably comes straight from the alternator which will cause that.

How many of you have to use filters? I ran it straight to the battery and still have noise.

I never used a filter, but it would have helped. Did you adjust your squelch?

There was a model of CB that fit in the ash tray (it was a small front footprint radio).... search 4x4wire or maybe Pirate4x4.... it was a popular 85-88/89 mod back in the 80/90s

There used to be a Midland remote mount CB radio. I think its discontinued. I have two... model 77? Its what I use.

I got my CB installed under the radio. I have engine noise problem, so I get to go through and clean/add ground straps.

I bought one of those black universal stereo mounts that hold a din stereo. Painted it to match my interior. Took down my map lights and rear view mirror mounted it up there then remounted my map lights and rearview mirror back to there. Mirror hangs down a bit but i found it was a lot easier than cutting up my dash. I'll post some pics when i figure out how lol
