Woofers firing into the box question.
I guess I understand the concept of exposing the rear of the woofer and mounting then to fire into the box.
My question is...
Do you then reverse the polarity of the speaker when you do this?
What are the benefits? Are there any?
Thanks.

No, leave wire it up the same, keep the same amount of airspace. Keep everything the same, just mount it backwards.
The reason people do this is because sometimes witht he enclosures they design, its too shallow to fit the basket inside, so they just put the basket outside.
Some woofers have baskets that are too damn cool to hide them!

Cool. I am doing a custom install on a 240sx convertible with two Audiobahn 10" subs with the flame baskets and a Kenwood 1000watt amp to power them off of an Alpine headunit. Then a little neon and he is set to go.

well actually if you want to get technical you will need to subtract the volume of air the basket and sub displace from the enclosure if you are designing from scratch to invert mount the sub.
If you have 2 subs baskets out and one sub normal you WILL have to reverse the polarity on the tow sub's whose baskets are out. You want the 3 cones moving in unison at all times.
