Time Frame
Hey guys,
Ive been reading and seeing all your sick enclosures and what not. I was just wondering if you guys who have done it can give a time frame on how long it took certain projects. Im getting a system for my truck (87 pickup ext. cab) but its my daily driver and cant afford for it to be out for any length of time. Can these projects be done over a weekend? I would have help so it would be more than just one set of hands.
Any info would be sweet.
thanks
Ashaskin

Ummm, you should give us some scope...
Audio? Video too? Are you tearing everything out or just replacing speakers? Sub? Amp? AmpS?
Putting in a new head unit and door speakers is an afternoon. Adding a sub and multiple amps is a day. Building a sub box is an afternoon if you have the plans and access to a table saw, and all the materials right there ready to go.
Adding video is pretty straight forward, it "can be" just a different head unit.
The next step past that is adding an in-car computer, and that's a HUGE step. There's a lot of research and parts gathering to do, then the install can easily take a dedicated weekend, plus figure at least a week to smooth out the software glitches and such.

ill tell you when im done...Thats what Im doing as I write this so far if you have no major problems and you want to take trim panels out and stuff then yeah prolly half a day. so far after installing an HU front speakers rear speakers it took me 6 hours because it was my first time ripping my car apart, now i can have all the major trim panels (underside of dashboard and rear quarter panels) off in about 30 minutes.

I've spent the last 3 nights working on my truck, replacing the stereo. It really depends on how far you want to take it. I've already completely carpeted the back wall, as well as built an amp rack, carpeted it, mounted it, replaced all the electrical wiring from the battery, added a capacitor, and I'm still not quite done yet.
Next week I will add a brand new amp, and brand new speakers for the doors, as well as all new wiring for the front speakers. Basically I'm replacing the whole system except for sub and deck.
So far, I'd say I've got about 12 hours into it. But I've also been taking my sweet time and making sure it's going to look nice in the end
