Subwoofer and Amp ?s

I am planning on buying this subwoofer, http://www.google.com/products/catal...CAcQ8wIwADgA#p

and this amp http://www.frys.com/product/6205260

Will just one of those sound good, i listen to hard rock and classic rock.

Is that too much for my xtra cab?

I am planning on getting a second sub one day will this amp power two of those subs?

I will be building my own box, is it as simple as building a box and putting a big whole in it for a port?

I think you'll be better off with one 10" sub.

I listen to all types of music. Occasionally like to bump.. occasionally listen to some rock, a lot of country and just everything...

I have one Kicker C10 with a 300X1 amp and it does great for every situation. One 12 with rattle the truck apart.

You'll be happy with that setup just make sure you run big enough wires and set the gain correctly.

edit: You won't need a second sub(although you might get addicted to slamming it and want more.) But if you go with two you'll either need a bigger amp or two of those.

Quick question, is $570 a good deal, all kenwood, for 2 12" subs, 2 4-way 4" speakers, 2 6" speakers, a 1000w 2channel amp, a pair of tweeters, and the wires to hook up the amp up.

yeah dude that is a killer deal. you better jump on that. I ended up with the JL audio 2 ohm W3 and a kenwood amp that is 250 Rms per channel , and the sub is up to 300 Rms. I am going to build a sealed box because i have read that the sound is clearer and deeper and that a ported box doesnt have as good sound quality but is louder. scooba i thought about a ten or two but i have seen a couple friends with 12s and really like the sound and setup. I am wanting to build my box to fit in the middle of the two back seats and go over and sit over the drive shaft hump. I want it to be able to hold two subs incase i ever do get a second one.

your a man with a plan 95black.

I plan too, just have to get some more $$$ first.

I'm pretty much a newb when it comes to audio, so I'm gonna ask what is prolly a stupid question. Well here it goes what is RMS?

Also what is the difference between a sealed box and a potted box, I am assuming from the names, one has holes in it and one don't, but is there other differences? Is a sealed box one of those that has the sub behind plexiglass?

I am a newb to, but I been reading. And read that the dude you hear from 3 blocks away is prolly running a ported box, and a sealed box is for sound quality and will be deeper. I don't know what RMS is exactly. But I am pretty sure that is the range the sub sounds the best, like mine is 75-300 Watt ems,and the amp is 250 Watt rms

reading seems to be a common ground between us then!

What are some good sites you've been reading on, the ones I've found haven't given me much info at all, and they basically all say that if you want a good system, then it's gonna be expensive. They just find new ways to say it.

Thanks for the info, I can't wait to get that system I mentioned earlier!

Im 90% sure that the RMS is how much power the amp can supply constantly. whereas the peak power is only for a very short time.
Also i had one 10" rockford fosgate in my excab that i had a couple years ago and it was plenty for the size of the cab.
Ive also had 12's and from what ive experienced they tend to sound "muddy" to me with really fast bass especially with double pedal drums.

Yeah I thoughy that's about what rms was,but wasn't sure. I guess I will see. About sound quality, but I bought a sub that is suppose to have real good quality not just loudness.

alright for $300 i got this Kenwood 1000w amp 250 RMS

I built this box with wood around the house, its sealed and should be about the perfect volume that i read on the JL website.

And i havent recieved the JL 12 inch W3 yet. This subwoofer is suppose to have very good sound quality and not be quite as loud as say a Alpine Type R.

Also bought a wiring kit but dont feel the need for a picture of it. Does anyone know how to take a Sony head unit out of the dash. Yeah Yeehaw i always do alot of reading and researching on stuff, especially if its something i really want.

to take the head unit out of the dash you can either use the "keys" which are just thin strips of metal with little handles that unlock the little clip like locks on each side of the deck, after you pull the faceplate off. sometimes if youre careful you can use two small screwdrivers if they are really thin. otherwise if you pull the panelling around the deck off then you can get to it that way too.
