Stereo for a 2nd gen 4Runner

I was looking into getting a new stereo for my 2nd gen 4runner. If you could post pics and info on your sound system that would be great. ie. head unit, amp(if you have one), and speaker size. also i am having trouble finding a 2din mounting kit that claims it works for the 2nd gen. i know i asked a lot of questions but it is all basic sound system stuff.

I don't have any pics for you right now, but I've had CD players put into 2 2nd gens and neither install kit fit very well. There was always a gap in the bottom. One installer used a screw to try to close the gap. It doesn't bother me but just be aware you might have a gap! Also I ran a 10" Alpine Type R in a tiny sealed box to save as much cargo space as possible and it was loud! You've got enough room you can do whatever you like though.

edit: just found a thread you might be interested in https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f96/...eakers-139730/

I'll take pictures later... I'll tell you what I have now. My system is 5-6 years old and still working perfectly.

Pioneer premier deck
all brand new speakers ( pioneer )
2 type R alpine 12" subwoofers
1 1000w amp bridged to the subwoofers
1 450w amp bridged for all the speakers

This system rocks... its gotten me a ticket... also the rear of my truck is completely sound proof. nothing vibrates.

I have a pioneer head unit (I think anyway lol) and 2 sony xplod 10's with 1 1200 watt sony xplod amp. I don't understand what you mean by the gap? I had a factory head unit when I bought it (I think it was the unit that didn't play cd or tape) but had a pocket under it. And the pocket screwed to the side of the unit and I unscrewed it and put it on the new unit and it fit perfectly in the dash without a gap or anything. But if you go to bestbuy (if you didn't have the pocket with the factory unit) you can ask for a dash kit which is just the pocket to screw to the side of your new unit! Sorry its long and repetitive lol.

i have an alpine H/U in both of mine. in the 91 i had to install the dash kit and it fit great.... i have 4 inch alpines up front and some alpine 6x9 in the back... the rear required some cutting and i still have to finish sealing the boxes. i also ran some 14g wires to the back speakers to eliminate the little amps.

Just in case you didn't get it the first 3 times

I'm running an older Pioneer DEH-P5800MP and quite like it. I would like to upgrade to a Pioneer DEH-710BT http://www.pioneerusa.com/PUSA/Produ...P710BT.Support which seems to be discontinued, but can still be had on eBay for under $300.
