Stealth sub enclosure
I was sick of my sub boxes stealing my precious cargo area, so I decided to venture into the rear panel. I found alot of space .
So the build began...
Trimmed inner panel (green) and extended drain tube (red)
Glued and screwed mounting plate for subs
Backfilled cavity w/ Great Stuff
Reinstalled panel
Applied a coat of fiberglass mat around the perimeter of mounting plate
Installed subs to test for rattles and sound quality.
Alot of air moving back there and the factory clips simply were not going to work. Replaced the panel clips (green) with 10mm bolts (red)
Pneumatically sanded w/60grit and applied 2nd layer of glass w/cloth.
Pneumatically sanded w/80grit, bondo'd, Pneumatically sanded w/120grit, initial coat of filler primer.
Hand Sanded w/220 grit.
Heavy coverage w/ filler primer.
Hand sanded w/400 grit.
Color Primed
Subs installed w/ grilles.
I will be bedlining the entire cargo area and replacing the carpet w/vinyl so this project will be revisited once I get some decent weather.

Looks really clean...
idea... If you spray some rubberized asphalt undercoating on the backside of the body skin you will kill a lot of the vibration and "boom-y-ness"... Dynamat sells the same product as "Dynaspray" for about $20 a can but you can pick up good quality rubberized underspray for about $5 a can so.... I used it on my doors and it really makes a difference... do 2-3 light coats not 1 heavy coat for best results...

Thanks man. It sounds great too. I'll get a video up soon.
Yea, that stuff is awesome. I have used it on other boxes I have made. suprisingly enough though it isn't too boomy with the polyfill back there, but I like that idea and might do it when I pull the panels to bedline them.
