i have a few questions about some questions regarding speaker and amp wiring, first off crutchfield says these speakers will require modification to fit in the front dash, but i thought the front speakers were 4"? http://www.crutchfield.com/S-GPvzp4L...084012I&tp=102
what is the deal and what would i have to do to make them work?

second how much wire should i buy to wire up an amp behind the passenger seat in my truck? i kinda dont have a tape measure here at college so i am just looking for a rough estimate on what i will need.

 

Nice speakers. And a great price! You better jump on those. Or.. you can also get the Lightning Audio 4" at Walmart. They are clearancing those for like $18 I think. I got some for my cousin's '89 Pickup and they popped right in with nooo modding. Sound nice too. I think those Infinity's will bolt right up too. They may say modding because the factory mounts are only 2, and the speakers have 4, so you MAY have to cut 2 off. I doubt it though. ..

On your amp, do yourself a favor and take an extra 10 mins and mount it under your pass seat. It is very lil work to align it to fit correctly, but it will make it WAY harder to steal. Bolt it down too. You should be able to do it with about 10 ft. of power cable and don't buy thinner than 10 gauge. Good luck.

 

I wouldn't put that much money in speakers that small. If you're going to use anything in the rear, you wont be able to hear those littles ones up front.

well the front speakers are 3.25s stock so you would probly have to shave some plastic out. and 12 feet of power wire would give you some extra room. If you want a list of all the wire you need I can make a list.

thats an insane price for those refernces...i want them, but not sure if i need em T_T my 4''s are new, but not sure how good they are or what brand.

 

The factory fronts are a 4" the mount is called 4T. basically what you need to do to make those fit is trim the tabs back a bit. if you compare what you have to the new ones you'll see what needs to come off.

 

When I put my infinity's in I had to use some spacers to shift the speaker back and away from the dash. The end cone/cap was touching the dash, only "mod" I had to do to make them work. Sound great!

 

If you're going to run a amp to those little speakers, get some of those bass blocker cross overs.

 

I didn't have to run bass blockers to mine, but I have the SR5 and there is a factory crossover and amps in each of the rear speaker housings. I didn't expect that. Made finding the right harness for the head unit a little bit of a pain, but eventually the guys at best buy figured out what I needed. Twice some kid was like "yes, I'm sure it will fit" and twice I was like "this harness doesn't fit". But I digress, Pioneer 4" fit in the front just fine with no mods but I didn't use two of the four mounting holes, but those Infinity's are better nice find.

Edit: The crossover is not for the rears, just the amps. I worded that strangely.

when i saw those i was like wow thats cheap, the i saw free shipping so now i am going to be ordering them soon. but the way i am planning on doing it is running the front speakers off the head unit for now, and when i get home next week i am putting in an infinity 10" sub.

 

so a little update, i have my amp all wired up and 13 feet is about the perfect amount, leaving a little extra to use for the ground, grounding at the seat.

and i installed those infinities and wow, listening to them compared to the stock speaker is such a difference, you really dont realise how bad the stock sounds untill you hear it side by side to a good sounding speaker.

I had a set of Pioneer 2 ways there but they got kind of tired and I unplugged them because they were just screaming midrange. I'm gonna hook these up there and run them straight from the amp (100hz electronic crossover) and let them play full range.

They're not extremely high quality speakers but Infinty never puts out junk and these will compliment the reference series 12's I have back there too. $30 for a pair of these is too good to pass up.

 

i have those speakers, i paid 130 for them new, they have great highs, but nothing below 100hz. they did theyre job until i got my kickpanel components made...
