Replaced front speakers in 3rd gen but tweeters dont work

Got a set of components to replace the stock front speakers and wired them up but theres no sound coming out of the tweeters. The woofer has sound but it sounds like its trying to play like a full range speaker. I didnt amp it and used the stock wires. I did the same as the rear non-components by taking off the stock speaker plug and made my own speaker harness with them because I didnt want to cut the stock plugs. Funny thing is since I wasnt sure which was the + or - wire, I just guessed and checked but both combinations produced sound in the woofer and not the tweeter. Can this be causing the tweeter to not work, or is my crossover broken? Or do I need to run wires from the head unit and not use the stock wires? I know its not the wiring because even though it is color coded and is labeled, I still triple checked it and it seems right. Anyone have any suggestions on what I need to check?

Did you use the aftermarket crossover that came in the speaker kit? When i had mine done, my buddy at Tweeter installed it but i was back there helping him. He ran a wire from the factory spot in the door into the Boston crossover and then ran new wires from the crossover to the woofer and the tweeter. I'm not sure if you did it like this but this is how mine was done and it works fine.

You should run new wiring.

Yea, I should, but I'm too lazy to do that and I wont be able to tell the difference anyway. I just wanted something a little better than stock and so far I'm pleased. Dont know why i had to but I just switched the tweeters around and now they work. Thanks for the responses anyway.
