Question Pulsing Receiver display

Hey,
I just installed my new Alpine system yesterday(not in my truck). And when the volume is up but not very high I can see the lights in the buttons diming and then becoming bright. They look like a pulse is going through them and it correlates with the output in the speakers. Is there anything I can do about this? Thanks

I have had several Alpines that did this in the past. It has to do with the internal amp drawing power, and basically taking it from the lights when it needs more output power. I never had any of mine cut out like external amps may do, it was just annoying.

The only thing I can think to try is to treat it like a separate amp. In other words use a lower gauge wire to cut down on resistance and get as much power to the unit as possible. On the constant power lead you may want to wire it directly to the battery (with an inline fuse of course as close to the battery as possible). As you probably know the factory harness is usually like 20-22 gauge. You might also be able to use a capacitor, I don't have any experience with these, but someone else might.

This way it has as much power as it can get when it needs more. Good luck.

seconding "nieuwendyk-25's" suggestion, i would go it one further to suggest the "Big 3" upgrade &/or a "Capacitor", even.(both of which you can search this board for info. on)

the "Big 3" will permanently resolve the issue w/the dimming, as well as help w/overall battery recovery & would supercede the need for the installation of a "lower gauge wire" between the battery & radio.
but if you're going to go any bigger w/your system beyond a "head unit" upgrade(sub, amplifier, etc.), i'd suggest getting a "Capacitor" as well.

just helping,

p.s. how's it going, "nieuwendyk-25"?

Going Great!

Good Post! Unfortunately my "flashing Alpine" was stolen several years ago... it was a pull-out..I was in a hurry and did't pull-it-out! Someone else did. I have always missed that one.

See ya Frankenrunner

sorry to hear about your loss, "nieuwendyk-25", but i know that you've left that whole experience behind w/the wisdom that: "you're never in too big of a hurry to "...pull-it-out..."

catch ya" later & in case i don't, good afternoon, good evening & good night.
