New file format compatability

So half of my new music files are in mp4 or some other format that I can't remember at the moment . Is there any way I can download a file, or do something to my Alpine HU to make it play these. It currently just skips these tracks .

convert them: http://www.handyarchive.com/free/mp4-converter/

download something off there and convert em to mp3.
