Our house is done and they prewired for our subwoofer. They have a coax coming from the wall. is there a coax to rca adapter? or did they prewire wrong.

Yes. But do your self a favor and use an Rca connector instead of an F-Rca adaptor. Your installer should be able to crimp an RCA end on the RG-6 coax.
The way they wired your sub is called low level. The other way is with speaker wire (14/4) and thats high level.

You may also need a Y-adapter, most of the subs i spec(Veladyne, polk, ect) use a left and right low level in, so i either run two coax, or single female- double male adaptor.

One last thing, did they put the Coax near an AC outlet? Please say they did, your sub will need power to run, dont do a passive sub.

If you have any other ? let me know, this is what i do for a living, me and my brother own a home theater company. (of coarse he does most of the home theather specs i stick to programming things)
