yes it will sound quite good! Just dont believe the all the hype about power was my message.

Besides to get an increase of 3dB in sound you must DOUBLE the power applied or DOUBLE the cone area! And to the ears 3dB really isnt much of a difference. So again power isnt everything, unless you are like me and enjoy bringing an auditory onslaught to a termlab.usb spl meter!

Also worthy of note is that the dB scale is logarithmic so that 93dB is 2x louder than 90dB and so on. As such if you hear anyone claim anything higher than 150dB in their daily driven vehicle, be skeptical, very skeptical.

Everything you said makes sense (I'm a mechanical engineer) so i know where you are coming from. i was just being general in the way that those amps are a little better than others because of their "so called" smart power and they are expensive. I know from experience that they work very well and their sound is top notch for what we all do on here. Glad to get more info though, you learn something new every day.

LoL, yes actually yall should! That 159.4 was actually on the OLD termlab, with a wall (Yes my yota was a 2 seater at one time!), 2 DD 9515s and 4kW rms and a bank of batteries, with engine running.

The new termlab would have it doing about a 155 and change!

My current system, which is confied to behind the rear seats and below all window lines, and has only 1 extra 12v battery, engine off can only muster about a 151 on the new and 155 and change on the old.

Either way being able to make other people's rearviews shake and shimmy when I deem fit is fun! (However most of the time I reframe from doing so unless some punk with a pair of 10s thinks he is a Car Audio God...then I say HIII!! with my system! )

$250 for that set-up is a steal. Retail for that would be in the $800 - $900 range plus tax. The main benefit of the JL amp is 500w of output from 1-4 ohms and 11-15v. Higher math aside, this means that if you were inclined you could run another JL 12w3v2 off of that amp, and still have a power output of 500w+. I sold JL for years and would recommend their subs and amps over anything in the same price range. I currently run a 12w3v2 in a sealed enclosure with a jl250/1 and it hits plenty hard. Redoing my system with 2 8w3v2's in ported enclosures. Both will run off of my 250/1. Congrats on a good buy!

Yes it was a steal! The amp and sub were both in great shape and they are lous enough to make my dash bounce! The dash will vibrate like hell at full volume. I love itbut now i think i want a w7. anybody got one? there is one on ebay for $450.

ah, all this JL talk is making me want to build a system again.

Someone jacked my JLw6 from my old Toyota DX Pickup a couple years ago, and music has never been the same.

be careful because you can distory that sub with that amp without any effort. JL 500/1 amps are meant to power a single 12" W6.

I have a w7... What do you want to know... by the way, if your not planning on powering it with a 1000/1, dont plan on getting one unless you get another 500/1 and run 1 per voice coil.
