My son broke the tv remote last night and the TV(RCA) had the front panel child lock on, so we can't turn on the TV!! I bought a universal remote, but the instructions state the tV should be on to programme! Other than buying a new RCA remote does anyone know if the child lock can be deactivated?

it doesnt need to be on, just program the remote like the instructions say. When you program it right, the tv will turn on, instead of off like it says in the instructions.

 

I did try but i'll give it another shot tonight.

Will check the model # also.

 

Also what brand / model of universal remote did you buy? if your TV is an RCA, the RCA universal remotes are already pre-programed to run most of their TV/VCR's
