Anyone know how long the hard drives are suppose to last on a HD camcorder? i.e. Is there any known data/failures with them after 10,000+ uses?

the HDD camcorders should last for quite awhile if you take care of it. Extreme temperatures and dropping the camera (especially while in use) can greatly shorten the life of the cam.

Ditto, although these sonys have a feature where if it senses a drop it will stop the hard drive to help keep the damage to a minium.

Either way it should last as long as any other camera, in a few years they will have the next big thing out for so cheap you will have to get it anyways...

That's pretty awesome! Too bad the biggest is 120GB though. Pretty neat idea.

I used to sell those all of the time. People wanted to dump their pics, but not bring their laptop. They run a litle pricey though. My laptop is light/small enough to where I have no problem bringing it with me.

Sorry, but I hate when these numbers get thrown around. The 400 and 490 are the MAX SPEEDS. Think max speed:max wattage::sustained transfer rate:RMS if you want to compare to an amp. Firewire 400 stomps USB2.0 in sustained transfer, and FW800 stomps it even harder.

Don't just read the biggest numbers.

LOL, very true.

You are actually lucky if you can get 25MBS out of USB 2.0
