Awwww Fudge

Man I'm bummed. Yesterday I was driving home and no more bass. I listen to metal mostly so I don't need a ton of lows, but my little sub has worked for me for 5 years. It's a 75 watt kenwood tube with a 10" in it. I tested the voltage with my meter right at the plu connection. There's power up to it, but It just won't turn on. I think I fizzled the amp. Bummer. Any suggestions on how to check this thing otherwise. I'm saving for a lift and I would rather just get this going right now. Thanks -Seth

Just tear it open and see if you can find the damaged component. Do you know how to fix it if you find the damage?

Internal fuse maybe? 12v on both the power wire and the turn on lead?

It's a little more than loose speaker wires I'm afraid. The amp section does not even come on (No light, No sound). I got 12v from the constant as well as a reading on the turn on lead. I have a 15 amp inline fuse (It's fine) and a 15 amp fuse on the amp (also good). I am confident at soldering, as I do a lot of Custom guitar work. Unfortunately I am unsure how to tell what is the problem unless it is scorched, even then it may be difficult to find parts for this thing. I will open it up today and see. I like that it's compact and sure hope that I can get it working again. thanks for the suggestions -Seth

To test the speaker, take a small tool battery and touch the leads from the speaker to it. If there is no sound or movememt, the speaker is toast.

YESSSS!!!!

I fixed it. I checked the remote turn-on before and it had a readout, albeit small. But your comments made me check again and there was nothing. I looked under my dash and it looks like my parking brake yanked it out of a butt splice. Looks like zip ties are in order. Everything works again. Thanks for all your suggestions.-Seth
