Question '94 Pickup Std. cab 4 speakers??

I have a '94 Std. cab pickup with JBL 5 1/4" speakers in the two doors. I was wondering if I bought JBL 4" for the stock speaker placement in the dash, would it sound any better? They would be close together. Or should I get 6x9's and put them in the back facing up on top of my sub boxes? The price deffernce is $70 for the 4" and $160 for the 6x9's and boxes, what would I be better off doing?

You can see what im talking about here with the first picture. and some of the other pictues.

i asked the same question once upon a time, and was told not to even bother. i've just got 5 1/4 rockford fossgates, tweeters in the door and a sub, and im happy with that.

I have infinity 4s in the dash and 6.5s in the door and let me tell you thoes 4s really helped the clarity. They were well worth the $70 I paid. I would do the 4's in the dash allong with one or 2 10" subs behind the seat. If you don't need hard hitting bass one will do fine. You will have to have a flat box made. I don't think the 6x9s will sound too good back there.

From personal experience (my dad's truck), the 4's are a waste of time and money. If your budget allows, go for a set of Q-kick panels and get a 6.5 component set. Add an 8inch sub in the back, and you are good to go (provided you have the right amp ).

For about 2 years I thought the 4's would be pointless since I already had a componant kit but then dash enclosures really help with output and the extra slik tweeters of the infinitys really really did the job. The sound is more surounding and less harsh. For me, thoes 4's were really really worth the time, money, and effort. Look on page 2 of my home page to see how I modified the right enclosure to clear the huge magnet of the speaker.
