3'rd Gen Stereo Install Instructions

1. Remove the 10mm bolt below the glove box right next to the door.

2. Open the glove box and remove the three screws up top.

3. Pull back on the glove box assembly to separate it from the rest of the dash, it may be held on by a couple of spring clips.

4. Disconnect the speaker from the glove box assembly, then put the assembly somewhere safe.

5. Remove the plastic surround covering the ignition lock cylinder, it just pulls off.

6. Disconnect the hood release cable. You'll have to get the barrel shaped cable end out of the handle, then slide the red cable sleeve end out of the metal bracket.

7. Remove the screws and 10mm bolt that hold on the drivers side lower dash piece.

8. Pull the lower drive side dash piece off, it is probably held in by a couple of spring clips just like the passenger side. You'll have to rotate the ebrake handle to slide the dash piece past it.

9. Disconnect the speaker cable and put the dash piece somewhere safe.

10. Remove the plastic retainers that hold the lower center dash piece in place. There is one on each side. In order to take these out you have to push in the center pin till it clicks in place then you can pry out the whole retainer. To re-install you have to push the center pin back out till it sticks out. Then you place the whole assembly back in the hole and press on the center pin so it becomes flush again.

11. Remove the lower center dash piece and put it somewhere safe.

10. Remove the screw to the right of the upper center dash piece.

11. I'm not sure if the heater control face panel needs to come off, I ended up taking it off when I did mine, for now just remove the black knobs from the control sliders.

12. Remove the upper center dash piece, the outlined section is all one piece, it is held on with spring clips so you'll have to pull a bit to get it out. At this point you'll be able to determine if the heater control face panel needs to come off. If it's being pried off by the upper center dash piece than pull it off before you pull the dash piece.

13. You're there, just remove the four screws that hold in the radio assembly and pull it out. Assembly is the reverse of removal.

nice of you to detail all this out. Excellent use of the photos to illustrate the specifics.
