1st gen stock speaker sizes

Lookin at replacing the speakers in the new runner I got and I found out half of my sound system problem (literally) is im missing the rear speakers. I know the fronts in the dash are 4"s but what about the ones in the rear? Thanks!

5.25" in the rear. you can cut some 6x9's in for more sound, but may need spacers due to depth. also depending on your panels it may not work, if they are in bad shape and all cracked up

I was able to mount my 6x9s in the rear at an angle using just the top mounting hole. Works pretty good. Had them in like that for 6 years or so.

In the stock spot they are impossible to hear when you take the top off.

In my experience they are almost inaudible with the hard top on from way back behind the rear seats....

but I don't have carpet, and I have mud terrain tires and a loud exhaust.

I've been considering this year moving them up to about where the rear passenger's knees would be. I just want some decent looking speaker covers so that it wouldn't look like a hack job if I make holes in my panels.

I had that as well, if you read my build thread. They were still really hard to hear with the top off, and we're just ok with the top on. The wakeboard speakers I ended up getting put out great sound, and I have been happy with them.
