1996 4runner speakers

can anyone tell me what size the rear speakers in a 96 4runner LTD are? also, I'm looking to replce my factory speakers and was wondering what a good combo of speakers would be for the front and rear with no sub or amp...

4 inch in the rear, but i have 6.5's. ill try to get those pictures later.

i originally bought 6.5 for the front, and 5.25 for the rear, but ended up putting the 5.25s in the front and the 6.5 in the rear because it was less modification (IE only the rear doors)

those are some pictures of what is actually in my truck.

the blaupunkts that i put in sound great even with out the sub. but with the sub, the entire system sounds so awesome.

i just got done with mine, so keep asking questions and ill keep answering them, or find the answers for you. btw my total cost was around 700, installed by a friend.

edit: For a relatively "cheap" and painless install, buy those adapters for the rear doors and get some GOOD 5.25" speakers.
Replace your fronts with some high quality 6.5" components. Power them with a good H.U. and you'll have yourself a very nice upgraded system.
To make it 50 times better, install a 4x100~watt amp under your drivers seat and be prepared for pure amazement....some people will think you have a sub.

Check out Polk DB525 for the rear and Polk DB6500 for the front. They're affordable (ebay) and sound awesome.

you guys kick ass! so it makes no diff if my trucks an LTD or not eh? ok...
also, I'm switching out my factory deck with a pioneer DEH-4800 MP. i've been looking around for a car kit for this but all i've come across is a pocket you can install under the deck to fill inthe space. is it safe to say i don't require one?

youll need the wiring harness for that headunit. and the one that plugs into the vehicles.

im assuming the limited came with the "premium audio" package, so you have tweeters in the sail panels be careful removing these, i broke the pin for one and ended up hot gluing it to the door when i was finished

pm me your email address and ill send you the info on how to remove the door panels. i dont want to post here because its something i got from crutchfield.

An amp for your door speakers will make a HUGE difference. Trust me, I was amazed when I added one to my new door speakers.

hmmm i think my infinity kappa tweeters were over an inch...

edit, and yeah, you don't need a dash kit, just the pocket, the factory radio comes out, with 4 screws from the front, then you take the brackets off the sides of the factory radio, and screw them into the sides of new radio, with pocket above or below it, then put right back in, after market and oem radios in Toyota are same width

thats what i ordered, they say half inch mylar dome tweeters, but they were much bigger than half inch. i believe that refers to the cone size. not sure.

i know those fit... with of course the grill cut off. it seems they were one inch.

on the sail panels, i just hot glued them into place, as there was no reusing the mounting hardware
