Why not advertise..?

I like this forum but it seems like it would benefit the owners to add a few ad's...

Alot of forums make good money doing this. With good coding the ad's dont really bother the forum experience either. Alot of times they are benefitial to the users since now they can click on them and buy parts at a discount price or help finding better deals.

S10forum.com will take alot of the money they make and have a contest. Just recently they sent 2 people to the S-10 Nationals, included a truck entry, lodging and a dinner.

I dunno just a thought. Just because a forum has adds doesnt mean they are sellouts, esp if the members benefit from it.

I'm not saying go crazy with it but http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zeromain makes enough money from tasteful ads that the admin can live off the income. Live off it pretty well to at nearing 5k a month...

personally i hate ads. I like this board because it is very friendly and doesnt have ads. I understand it takes money to run forums like this, but ads just seem to clutter up everything. just my .02

also note that the corvette forum has 88,000 members...

when i wander to other boards for other reasons, im pretty much disgusted. i've been spoiled with such a great layout, friendly people and ad-free environment here at yotatech, nothing else compares. not saying don't add ad's.. hey, if it saves the admins money, then definetely do it.

yeah your right. there is a clutter factor. but if it ever comes down to keeping this up cuz of lack of money then I'd say definately add ad's.

I cant even understand how they manage to run the forum with on contributing members money. Unless I'm missing something.

The owner of S10forum.com just got back from Australia. GM flew him out there for some sort of new GM car show. I think thats pretty sweet. heheh

Ads would be beneficial but I hate "pop-ups". I can live w/ adds if it would benefit the powers that be, but don't ever let "pop-ups" in.

personally, i like the fact that we dont have ads. i know it can be "tastefully" done, but the main problem i see with ads is that once you click on an advertiser's ad, we lose any control over what they do when you get to their website. and if they have any annoying features (i.e. popups), guess who gets the blame?

I'm already deluged with ads for products I will never buy, so I am not really in favor of more ads.

T4R.org just added ads and I don't mind them on the main page but it's set up on there that a ad after every last post in every thread which is kinda overboard IMO.

I have NO problem contributing more. I VERY MUCH LIKE the layout and feel of YT.

I vote to keep it as is.

TTORA has ads too but only up top. I am fine with that, just no pop-ups.

i agree with that. wildyoats.com also has one corner up at the top that will change the add whenever you change the page. i actually found it useful. check out wildyoats.com and see what i mean.

One or two ads at the top isn't bad but when they're littered on every page it just becomes annoying.

This way is defenately nicer, but if there need to be ads at some time then let them be no flashy ones. The flashing, moving ones are very annoying.
