I'm for regional forums, would fit well under Yotatech Community. I've had very successful meets at my house in previous years with other car enthusiasts, and the regional forums are a great way to send out the word.

They're not Toyota's, but I get a good turnout:

Another idea I like is a place to put project worklogs. It's nice to see posts where users are fabbing, and it's a good place to document your progress, without having to search under a particular generation. I'm starting my own project, and it would be nice to see these together in one spot.

Organizing useful information is always a challenge, especially with large site such as this. The Tech Articles section is a great place, but there isn't much there. The FSM does a fairly good job, but it's usually better to see someone doing the work firsthand, and seeing what problems they may run into.

We will have to think about regionals.
Now for the other one, the build-ups.

Are you talking about something separate than the "Check out my truck" section we already have here?
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f76/

Now one of the FJ Cruiser sites I surf has a build-up section.
http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/member-build-ups/

My build-up thread here is also mirrored over on IH8MUD's site and also the forum above.
Originally the URL above our build-ups were scattered all around until they got put in one section that makes it nice.

That is an idea we could do here, but what about this idea that jarred my noggin'?
Each of the main rig sections at the Toyota SUV & Truck Tech forums could have a child forum in them which contain the build-up threads.
This way when you click into say the FJ Cruiser section https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f135/ you would see a sub forum (child forum) listed at the top like you see the Political sub forum listed at the top of the Off Topic section as shown here.
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f5/

Would that work?

Ya, the "Check out my truck" section is good for members to show what they've done and used, but a worklog (build-up) section would be nice to show progress of work being done.

I'm starting to do a frame-up restore on my '91 pickup, and it would be nice to have a section to document the work w/pics along the way. I've got my own server and site, but it is for the cars pictured above. It's just an idea to keep those together, the build-ups are very informative and gives everyone ideas that we may not have before. It would also keep the various repreat questions and theories away from the actual work. The engine swaps and SAS projects would be perfect for this section as well. My project will be a long one, and I like to make a checklist of stuff to do, and bounce my ideas off of those knowledgable. Obviously, the site is here, and is very helpful. And again, the search works, if you know what you're looking for. I'm rambling now, but I think I've got my point across.

OK, we have the SAS section and also the new Engine Swap section that went up late yesterweek.

So do you mean just add a build-up section for all year/model of rigs, or a child forum for each one under the other model sections, or a whole new title header called Build-Ups, then have sub forums under it with each model broken down as in the SUV & Truck section now?

As you can see, there are a gazillion ways to do this.

Looks like under the "Off Road Tech, Fab Shop, Solid Axle Swaps, Tool Time, & Engine Swaps" section, seems like it would fit great there. There are quite a few posts out there with people rebuilding engines, etc. They could find a home in the build-up section as well.

It could fit in there, and keep it simple by just having the same sections as we do now forrrrrrrrr, (excuse me, my neighbor scared me.
He is donwstairs and watching footrball, and yelled "Yes yes, go go go" he gets excited when watching football) er I mean for the SUV & Truck names.

I have 11 days off at Christmas time, and I may get to it before that or work on it then.
This sounds like a good idea to have them there.
They can get buried in the other sub forums fast for tech help.

Yes, kind of irritating, plus I have to move my wrist more to hit the "New Posts" link.

That went live a few days ago.
They will be looking for current vendors on here too to see if they want to get in on having their site listed.

Toyota also will be getting a spot up there I am told.

It may move depending on the feedback.
It is best to start a new thread on it in the same section here.
They did want some feedback on it.

I like how Mud has theirs in the upper right corner, but that would not work good here on account of our member banner above.
That has to stay where it is, it it a great welcoming sign when coming here.

Yotatech is great! Would it be possible to have a dedicated 2wd forum or section?

Corey, on another board that i look at occasionally, there is a "classic threads" section, its description says something like "threads that are just too good to lose". heres the link to that section on greatlakes4x4.com: http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/forumdisplay.php?f=86. its mostly off topic stuff, but some good info i think

i think something like this would be great for YT seeing as how it seems to be growing like crazy.

for example, the thread about the new zealand guy building the go-cart. a lot of people were raggin on him about it in the beginning, but it seems there are now a lot of people that are excited to see where it goes and how it turns out. some pretty good comedy found in that thread. also, the "women of yotatech" thread seems to get a lot of traffic. thread like these "classic threads" might be easier to find if they were all put into one place. just my suggestion

First off, i love this place, i know my post count dosent show it, but im on here every day, reading all kinds of stuff, even if it has nothign to do with my 89

one thing i would liek to see, i dunno if its been mentioned in this thread(dont have time to read thru 76 posts at work, lol)

but maybe regional subforums in the trip planning section
like: south central US, northeast us, south east, midwest, northwest, west coast, southwest, etc
each subforum would represent a certian group of states.
clubtitan.org has this, its easier for us local members(where there arent high concentrations of yotatechers) to organize a run, if my clubxterra.org had more traffic id have this added too(im a supermod there)

in each subforum there could be a stuck "check in thread" where mebers from a certain area can post up, give us a better idea of who is in our area

just a suggestion, it may even get people on the trials who have never wheeled before, say if they see a group of memebrs get together in their area, it may encourage them to tag along

i think it'd be good
