We read from left to right, so it makes more sense to have more important functions on the left. We feel search will get more recognition this way. I had to adjust too.

Its all a consipricy to get us to make a contribution. Most of us go straight for the "New Posts"..... but its been replaced with "Contribute"
Coincidence??......I don't think so!
But, I like it either way....

guys,
the reason why we moved some buttons from their old place to the upper left is that naturally, your eyes go to that area of the screen---or any book or newspaper you read. this is all usability/UI techniques in practice.
the problem though, is that those oft-used buttons like search and new post were at the other side of the nav bar. thus, it will take some re-learning.
hopefully the adjustment wont be too long. my mouse pointer still goes up to the new post button, but now finds the contribute button. oh yeah, there's no conspiracy there. but if it nets us a few contributions today...i'll give some consideration to that theory but really, we moved the contribution buton from the bottom of the page (where no one really looks) to the top since many people write us monthly and ask us where the contribution link is.

It worked on me.
I had been thinking about contributing for a few days but was too lazy to look around. You caught me in a good mood today and I didn't hesitate to Contribute. You guys do good work!

There was a snafu with the new one.
"New posts" and "Search" were not showing up for mobile phone users who surf from their handsets.
Contribute is still at the bottom of every single page here.
When Mike figures out the snafu, the nav bar will be once again like it was a few days ago, more streamlined.

This is what I see on Windows Mobile 5.0 in the nav bar, left to right...

Brian, Cebby did some research, and for mobile phone users of any software they use, it seems drop down list like for the quick links will not happen for ya.
That is probably why you see the mark forums read and the buddy list, as they are part of the drop down list for quick links.
This is a known snafu for all VB forums at this time.
