Rob, there are two areas to input this.
1. The header area:
http://www.pnw4runners.com/temp/new_logo1.jpg
2. Image path area where it has the yotatech URL with my name for the current image:
http://www.pnw4runners.com/temp/new_logo2%20.jpg
Not sure how this is going to work, or where I copy and paste your code into the header part, but I will make up a test template to try it on.

With the system I am working on now, it would be simple. You would create a folder on the server for the script and images and then change the "Title Image" URL to point at a file in that folder. That simple
The script does all the work.
I should have a working example either later tonight or sometime tomorrow.

if you guys do use my submission, i can send the .psd template or image-ready generated table html of the banner, minus 4 spots for rigs within the white rounged rectangle borders

Sounds good Cal, I like your pic in the middle.
Rob, I see your 5 pics together equals 550x100, close to the current 557x100.
Any way to make it a little bigger such as 750 wide, and 125 tall?
That will make for better resolution for pics submitted.
This is a really cool

Here's a thought... I think that the photos should have a standard aspect ratio, that will make it easier for folks to resize them. 1.33:1 is pretty standard, like 640x480, 800x600, 1024x786, etc, so I would recommend going with a fraction that maintains that ratio. A good example would be each photo being 160x 120. That would make the banner with five images 800x120.
In any case, I would recommend make the ratio something standard.
Thoughts? It's not critical to decide at this point for my proof of concept, I can change it in the script later, after a final decision is made.

i originally just even thought of square pictures, but not everyone can so easily play around with photos. good call on a standard aspect ration. since most digi pics come out at that 1.33:1 ratio, let's go with it.
i kinda think that 160x120 is a bit big for each one tho. by then the banner is filling up the whole screen for some, plus it looks good with some negative space to the sides. if we're gonna go with that ratio, how about 133x100. you can still see the trucks well at that size. either that or 125x125 and if someone has trouble cropping/sizing the pic, someone else with the right software could help em out.
once a final size for each pic is determined, i'll make a photoshop template and then ready it for the web.

A lot are still running 17" screens at a lower res, so perhaps we could try the 133x100 size and see how it works.
I am running a 20.1" wide screen at 1680x1050 now, so everything kind of looks small to me

it's a corrupt-style font, that's all. i thought it added a bit of "edge" to the banner and makes things interesting. here's it blown up and a couple other cool fonts.

I HATE FLASH, FLASH SUCKS.
You put up a flash banner im going to think a lot less of this site. (as all i see is
)
there is no reason you cant do it as an aminimated gif or as shown the javascrip call that loads vaious pics at radom. (my favorit) You dont have to have the same sized pics either (although it does make it eayser), you can force a resize as part of the HTML.
not the best quality as shooting into the sun is never easy. (but perhaps by the time they are sqeezed down you wont notice)

Just to be clear, I am not a big fan of flash for that same reason, not everyone runs it. I am also not a fan of JavaScript for that same reason. The mockup I am working on is done using the dynamic imaging component of PHP, so the processing is done on the server. If you can see this forum, done in PHP, you will be able to see the banner
calrockx, could you whip up a centerpiece in 133x100 that I could use for the example?

Okay, here's my proof of concept, using dynamic imaging in PHP. This example uses individual images that are 133x100px, including the centerpiece image. That makes the banner 665x100 when assembled. The size can easily be configured in my script.
This example draws on a directory with 262 files in it, averaging 10k each, for a total of 2.43mb total. With five images in the banner, that makes the footprint of the total banner around ~50k or so.
Here's the example; http://www.watrd.com/work/testbanner/
Here's the image itself; http://www.watrd.com/work/testbanner/work.php
And, for experimentation, here what an HTML image tag for this image would look like; <IMG SRC="http://www.watrd.com/work/testbanner/work.php"> Go ahead and try it in a web page
Questions or comments?

Note: This example should change images every time you refresh the page.

Cool guy's cool.
Rob, let me know later exactly how to add this in please.
I will make a test template when I get home from work.
Pics folks can be submitted to me, corey @yotatechDOTcom
Notice you will have to put the email name together above, as I am doing this to keep the spamola down.
Search bots glean emails from posts.
Have enough of that allready.
Pics must be sized at 133x100, I simply do not have the time to redo them for you.
Lots of freeware on the 'Net, and you can also search on Microsoft's site for the Powertoy "Image resizer", as it works great.

When you send the images to corey, please make sure you name your image with your username (i.e. "goodtimes.jpg") to ensure the uniqueness of the image itself
I'm assuming that jpg will be the defacto standard right? or is the script setup to read gif's too?

It will accept .jpg, .gif and .png, but if I were you guys, I would limit the accepted images to .jpg to simplify matters and keep the script from having to do too much processing.
Are you limiting submissions to one per person? If not, you might want to consider a naming convention something like username.date so that one user name can have more than one picture... my first pic might be "watrd.20050105.jpg" that will help you later when you need to clean up the folder full of pictures.
