Hardware upgrade, site hanging

For those of you (including me) who have noticed the site hanging sometimes, or the "page not found" error coming up the past few days, the hosts are aware of the situation.

A hardware upgrade will be taking place very soon.
YotaTech continues to grow by leaps and bounds, the database is packing on more pounds, so another upgrade is in order very soon to keep up with the demand here.

The issue I seem to be having is when I post a reply.

The window will never close, says "loading" forever. Yet, my post shows up.

Exactly, it is doing it to me right now in posting replies and also PMs.
However I open up a second window and check my "sent" folder, and the PM did go out.
Same with a reply to a thread.
I can see my post trying to go just sitting there, but if I open up a new window it actually did make post.

That is a database issue, it all should be resolved next week hopefully.

I've noticed the hanging post thing too but lately I've also noticed a lot of double posts happening, I'm cleaning out the doubles as I find them... hopefully the upgrade takes care of everything...
YT is growing! soon we shall take over the entire net! Bwahahahaha!

The double posts are happening when a member hits reply again when he/she sees the post not going through, when in reality it did go through.

I just started to not get updates on subscribed threads. I am seeing a few other complaints about it here and there.

Just so you know....

There has not been so far.
That is pretty time consuming, but I can see the benefit of doing it.
That would require staff reading every single classified thread to see if an item has sold or not.

Back to the server issue, the email was down on account of spam and spiders over the weekend.

A lot of forums, not just YotaTech, got hit hard over the weekend and spam flooded the email servers.

I am now at last getting email notifications for threads and PMs.
I hope everyone else is.

Spam, just something we have to live with.
We have plugins installed here that curtail the spambots from signing up and posting stuff from Viagra, porn, you name it.
About 50 to 100 of these spambots try to get in here daily.
Here is a Viagra one from the other day.
The following user name with email address was blocked by the Is Bot mod: Viagra_Kaufen - thesun@yalta.krim.ws (2 seconds transpired)
A lot of the spam is coming from Russia.

I cleaned out some ads where the items were sold and some that were 3 or more years old with dead links... but I barely made a start at it...
