Feedback for sigfile pictures
This has been brought up in the past, I have had a few ask me about it again.
A very popular FJ Cruiser forum I use allows the pictures.
All members get them, and Contributing Members there get a slightly larger one up to 600x200 pixels.
Mine below is 512x200.
I think 550x200 maximum might be OK if we want to run with this.
What are your thoughts?
Another advantage would be for vendors to put a banner of their business in the sig.
PS, sig file pic is gone now, but this is what it looked like.

I'm not a big fan of having a bunch of pics all over the place. Aren't avatars enough? It adds to much junk to a thread and if banners start going up for vendors it would start to get irritating in my opinion. And wouldn't it make pop ups worse?

Pictures in sigs can get annoying as it takes away from thread content and may be very off topic. We already have some members with huge sigs and thats just text! So if we add to it and we can see that someone did an ISR, and their mud-flap mod, the synthetic oil mod, and have an aftermarket shifter knob, and then a few babbling quotes...plus a picture.?/?
Maybe if there was some way to allocate X amount of lines, whether it be text, or image, or even both...but not exceeding a reasonable number of lines.

Nah...
I have DSL at the house and even then navigating a pic heavy thread takes long enough. Dial up might become a nightmare this way. Adding more pics to the signature might slow things down a lot. Also, a pic heavy thread gets confusing enough, no need to clutter it up any more.

I think it looks good and can add to the persons sig, however I have a couple concerns.
There are people that tend to make comments about other members sigs in the most random threads.
It can be a random thread about brownies vs cookies and somebody will post up, "Hey dude, that's a sweet truck in your sig...how much lift you got?"
Also, as stated before, the overall size of the sig can become a nuisance.
At first, it can become cluttering and make it hard to navigate but I have gotten used to it on some other forums.
Oddly, I think the black background that is offered here helps a lot.

Yes, I really use to not like them.
But after seeing them and using them (same pic I have now) over on the FJ site I use, I have gotten use to it, and it does not phase me one bit when reading threads.
But that is what we are here for, to get feedback on this.
And some are still on dialup?
I thought most were out of the dark ages by now

I personally don't like the sig line pics. It makes the threads slower to load and more cumbersome to read. I frequent sites that allow them and I really don't like them.
Please don't allow them.

I'm against it for a few reasons.
1. looks tacky.
2. that whats threads and posts are for.
3. moderating them would be another hassle.
4. build-up threads start looking like crap.
5. other threads lose value and easily get off topic and also start looking like crap.
6. makes it harder sifting/reading through any thread.
7. they become clutter and distracting.
8. thats what avatars are for.
9. having links + text in sigs is more than enough.
10. sig pics should have never been thought of.

My bias is towards pictureless sig lines as well... but maybe I am a bit boring.
I concur with others, no pics gives a cleaner look, easier to scroll through board.

I'm not sure how many people do this, but I tend to check YT from my phone when I'm not going to be around my computer for a while. Sig pics would take way too long to load and make it slower in general to visit YT

I agree with those points. Of course it's subjective as to what's tacky or not but still.
