lol... you're really thinking of going all red???

i don't blame you to be honest. i'd never go back to red/oak now that i know what mine looks like all red.

fill the hole, have it turned down just inside the bumper and forget about it...

any updates? new pics? things you'd do differently? things you'd definitely keep the same?

my point to this is that i'm buying a wire-feed welder soon and building my own!

The bumper was supposed to go in for paint today, but my new motrcycle hasn't arrived from Idaho, so next Wednesay is the new appointment at the dealer.
There really isn't much I would have done different design wise. The only changes I would make to mine are clearance issues and additional supports.

I thought I read all the info on 3rd gen bumpers, but I was wrong Oh, well now I know better and the "next" will reflect those changes.

Make sure there is adeguate clearance from the top of the bumper to the rear quarters. I know mine is closer than most, but have still (fingers crossed) experinced a problem with the bumper and frame flexing.

I have a 3" hole for my exhaust and I think a 4" hole is better due to the slight movement of the tailpipe.

Also, the side supports (from the side wings to the frame) are important for added bumper rigidity.

I have to change my bolts to round headed ones b/c the tire hits on the back of the bumper at full flex. I might just move them (supports) underneath the wings, still mounted to the frame.

If you look at Shaeffer's bumper, the side wings sit further back than stock, this is to reduce tire contact with the bumper at full flex.

Other than that, there isn't much I would have changed. I don't like the look of shackle hangars, so I didn't mount any. That is what I have the receiver for. It makes for a cleaner looking bumper IMO.

i have no more mud flaps with my setup. Makes for a dirtier bumper, but can't have it all.

I'll post more pics later. Server is acting up

Seems like those side wings could be a little shorter and angled better to allow for a lot more clearance, otherwise it looks badass.

If you go with an tail pipe like mine, don't forget to notch the inside of the side wing, so the pipe will clear the bumper for removal.

I am almost 100% that is how he did it.

As for the angle of your side wings--I like better. BruceTS's is similar. Not sure how mine ended up this way. Perhaps I got a little excited and didn't really notice until later.

If you need more pics let me know. It will go to the painter next week. I will clean up the rear wheelwells and under the body. I can't believe i have been driving with the rusty bumper for 5 months now

FYI, my hole through the bumper is 4" to give plenty of clearance for the tailpipe, then a 1" ring was welded in on the inside.

The reason why I opted to go with the wrap around frame mount design was because of the need for a spot for the side wing frame braces to be welded to. You can see it here in Lance's bumper that we fabricated.

I am trimming the hole to 4" for clearance. The bumper is finally going into paint Monday morning.

tell me about it. I had the thing built almost 5 months ago. Between the business, pregnant wife, house renovations, and time for myself.....Oh well, at least it is getting done.

Did you read about my 4 hour wheel/tire swap. It never ends Damn wheel studs
