Volcom's new roll cage

Aaron brought his 4runner up for a MUCH NEEDED cage. He had been wheeling it with no cage for a couple years. I offered to help him out with one.

The rear is pretty much done except for a couple more gussets to be added. We'll be finishing off the rest tomorrow.

On a 1st gen 4runner, there is no possible way for a cage to punch through the floor. Six of the 8 mounts in this cage are directly above the body mounts. Its impossible for it to punch, so no frame tie-in is needed. In all honesty, a frame tie-in is useless on a rig like this.

Nice.

Welding in shorts. I made the mistake of doing that a couple weeks ago and got a nice "sunburn" as a result, not to mention a worthless pair of socks.

The cage turned out great.. I enjoyed being able to watch Scotty in action and lend a helping hand ever once and a while.

Big thanks goes out to Scotty at Addicted Off Road for the cage! And a big thanks to CUbuff4Runner and E_ROCK for the help. I'm so impressed with Scotty's detail to bending and notching tube! He makes it look easy. I'll get the rest of it painted soon and post some more pics!

I also can't wait to install Addicted's front tube bumper!
