Trail Gear sliders....

I bought a new set of Trail Gear sliders, getting ready to have them installed when I get my truck back. I have called a few off road shops and one place quoted me $100, the other $75....My last set, I had a buddy install them in Ohio. So do these quotes sound decent for the job at hand?

When I looked into sliders, the local 4x4 shop quoted $75 per side to install, and that was after buying the sliders from there as well.

If that includes all the measuring, cutting, lining up, re cutting, and welding then yeah $75-$100 sounds pretty good.

I had a buddy do mine and it took us quite a while to get em on.

Install a set yourself and see how long it takes you to do it "right"...then see if $100 is worth it to you. Actually welding them on takes 15 minutes maybe and is easy...it is all the other stuff that must be done that takes time and effort to be done right.

Slider install at a minimum is a $100 job for me and that is for someone who buys the sliders from me, or it isn't worth the time or hassle.

Brian's right. The welding is the quick part. It's all the prep you have to do before the welding to be sure they're perfectly level and evenly spaced.

I would say $75-$100 would be a great price.

Spend a couple more bucks and have them plate at least the end two legs. I mean plate the frame where they attach and maybe gusset them a little. I just cut a couple small triangles per side from some 3/16 2" flat stock.

It will double the amount of vertical loading they will take before ripping loose from the frame.

my TG sliders were about CDN$300 or so installed at bigcountrycustoms. figure about $175 of that for the sliders themselves...and 125 for the install. brians right...spend the $150 or whatever it takes. when welding to the frame...esp something like sliders should be done right. once.
