Thumbs up toyota frame

I am thinking of taking the bed of of my 79 truck, because its pretty rotted. anyhow if the frame would bend behind the cab or can i gusset the top of the frame behind the cab.. this is a mud truck and gets beat pretty hard so any help would be appreciated

Huh?

Yes, the frame bends up behind the cab to clear the rear axle. Yes, you can gusset/strengthen the frame behind the cab.

You could also cut the frame off and "back half" the truck with a tube frame to support whatever kind of suspension you want to run.

I think he means he's worried about the frame bending because of the lack of a bed... Which is a definite no. That bed isn't a structural member of the truck. What do you think you're driving? A Jeep?

yes that is what i mean, but the frame has to flex to a point..

The frame flexes bed or not, the beds aren't so strong that it's going to make a difference. Hundreds of these things are running around with no bed, unless your frame is rotted out, you'll be fine. My bed is so rotten they almost move independent of each other in a couple of places and mine is fine.
