One other question i had was, do you guys think it would be possible to have a stinger fabricated to the front end, instead of the hoops...

Something just like Ric's custom bull bar here...

I think it is possible but for it to be any good the TJM would need some reinforcing.

Man, I really like the T17 as it is...sort of basic you know. This is the one I want for mine and I will keep it without the hoops...but I do like the looks of that stinger.

Yeah i agree, a smaller version is what im lookin for, something less than 24-26" tall...and have it at a 45+ (or more) degree angle. I dont come across many sections on the trails where rolling over foward is an issue. However, it would be nice to have a bar there to protect my hellas and headlights from limbs on the trails that love finding places on my grille... and since deer are everywhere here...it would prevent any deer that i hit from being launched off my bumper strait into my windshield...

One other thing, do any of you guys know aproximately how much the average fabricators would charge for a job like this (steel/bending/welding/labor) ? I mean is it relatively inexpensive (around $100-200) or am i looking at several hundred for everything ?

I calculated out the hours I spent building, taking to the powder coater, packing and shipping and I was at a whopping $18.00 an hour.

Hence my lack of interest in offering a bumper that is shipped. My current rate is $35.00 an hour plus materials and supplies. Arizona is a cheaper place to do business, so this would be like 50 anywhere else.

I would be interested in what you come up with. Keep us updated.

If things don't pan out I might go Renegades way

As its comming down to it, I might just do all the work myself. I plan on getting a small MIG welder soon, probly a hobart 125, cause I talked to Bamachem and hes very pleased with his 125...I figure it should be enough to do the minor fab jobs i'll need it for. I have 0 experience with welding but really have the desire to learn, plus $600+ isnt really feesable right now since welding isnt something I always do...And adding a 220v outlet is out of the question for now. So I think as long as i get in allot of practice/experience before tackling these fabrications, i'll be ok. Any tips/comments concerning this?

The jobs i'd use the welder for would be to attach a pair of sliders to my frame, Fabricate a stinger (similar to ric's) for my TJM, as well as attach Shackle hangers to my front end...Along with any other small works I might do.

Stubbs is already deep into building the jig. I'll see him in Moab in about a week and he is shooting to have a set of hoops for me there.

Pics in Moab and the doors will be open for orders.

Yes. I am now a TJM Dealer. I have a really good idea of what I will price the bumpers at, which is as good or less than anyones sale price.

The kicker is that shipping from me will be DHL or FedEX Ground not Truck Freight.

Stubbs is alomost done with the hoops. I just have to finalize the original stocking truck freight with TJM and I'll be all set.

Very Soon here. I got the word yesterday from TJM.

Bottom line is if it sells, I'll make it or carry it. Here is an example:

For the year I did offer mail order style rear 4Runner bumpers:

30: 3rd Gens, yeah there are alot more out there than people realize.

3: 2nd Gen

1: 1st Gen

Yowza... understood!

But that stuff does typically not sell well.
