Stingers?

I see so many people put stingers on their front bumpers when they make them, what exactly is the purpose of a stinger?

1.) Rollover protection for the front clip and radiator. If built properly, you can drive away from a rollover..well...you know.

2.) Steep Descents will keep the truck from flipping end over end

Provisional Benefits

Serves a killer place to mount your winch hook
Can mount lights in an assortment of arrangements
More freedom to mount a winch (higher or lower)
Intimidating in traffic

You'll hear just as many cons as pros for them. I've had them and used them and beleive in them strongly. Others think is all they do is total your radiator when you roll...

I found another used here in illinois, when your in a tight MUDDY spot and you dont quite have the turning radius you can put the stinger on a tree and the tree will push your nose over. I works great with mine bc the support bars go to the outside edges of the bumper. And no I havent hurt any tree's, when its that muddy it only takes a little more than an idle.

I saw an accident up here in tahoe recently.. The 4runner involved had a stinger and the Explorer it ran into had a big hole in its door.

So thats another use.
