I used a sawzaw. I just made sure the tape lines were exactly straight. Once thats done its pretty hard to mess up. I took out 15 inches. O took out this much because that leaves me with around 7 inches of moveiment for the rear shackles for when i replace the springs and do the sas. I should get my welder in the mail today so hopefully I can finish the job and move on to the SAS with a dana 44. I have never welded in my life so everyone wish me luck!!
thanks for the replies.

i just did a 18 inch bob about 3 months ago, when you weld the sheetmetal back together you should have a back plate system so you dont burn through.
seam the top of the bed, and then tack every 6 inches ( blowing on the welds with compressed air the instant your done welding to set them, this helps reduce the warping. then go back and do every 3 inches, then 1.5 then so on and so forth until its all done. take your time, set your welder up right and youll be fine.

MAKE SURE EVERYTHING FITS BEFORE YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT PUSHIN WIRE!.

happy welding

85, quit being stingy and show some pict.'s!! Just curious, would a wet rag work better than comp. air or not advisable? No need to use seam sealer??
