A start to tube doors

Well the weather was nice on Sunday so this is what I was working on. They are 1.5" od .25" thick square tube.

They aren't finished. I'm going to run another vertical bar from top to bottom closer to the hinge. I still need to figure out a latch, and I'm making a padded arm rest to go from the vertical rear post to the upper bar. I may fill in the opening with expanded mesh, and maybe fill the door sill with diamond plate to keep crap in. I still need to cap off the top of the vertical post as well as the bottom bar, then grind and paint.

Well, what do you think so far?

they dont look too shabby. you have the right idea, and for a low budget build you cant go wrong.. grab a blending wheel and clean up the welds and paint them.

Those are going to be a stout set...
I have a set of Dave's Off Road doors on my '81. I was kind of skeptical of the fence latch they used but no problems yet..

Though I would like to come up with something using a stock latch from a set of donor doors I have.
Hard to tell but http://4xinnovations.com/pages/guarding/doors.htm have a longer latch.

Sounds like you are on the right track for figuring out something to keep stuff in....Cel phones slide out very easy I know

I was thinking on using the gate latch, but then I was thinking about using 2 rear tire carrier latches (but they are hard to find) So I decided on making my own gravity fed latches.. Something like this....

Sorry forgot to add the link......
