Slider Question
I am in the process of building a set of sliders for my truck. The ida of them are pretty basic. My issue is the "outrigger" of some of them. I have my sliders mocked up right now. pretty much a piece of 1x2 under the pinch weld and monuts to the frame. I am curious to know of the "outrigger" part that comes off of this metal under the pinchweld actually does help out. I see the slider being under the pinchweld being good protection but not sure if i should go all the way out. I could use the outrigger to help step into the truck but it seems a bit high for me even to get a foot up on it. So those with the sliders on their rigs, does that extra metal help protect the rockers of the truck any better than one piece under the pinch.

Under the pinchweld protects from the bottom, the outer rail protects from the side.
1x2 is not anywhere NEAR big enough. Remember you are building a slider, not a step - it needs to hold the weight of the TRUCK not the driver.

If you build anything overkill on your truck, it should be armor (sliders).
Slider main tube protects the bottom and helps you "slide" over stuff and not damage the underside of the truck.
Slider outriggers protects the whole side and keeps you off of stuff by "sliding" off obstacles.
A bad sets of sliders can ruin a day in a hurry.
