I'm sure the block is toast.
Been there, done that.

Drop a 3.4 in and call it a day.

mmm carnage
I am taking off the head tonight to get the rest out. I don't know the condition of the cylinder wall yet - that will detirmine if I do a full rebuild or not.
I'm not sure that belongs in the oil pan.

since it is sitting, fill up the sylenders with diesil. we pull cars out of the canal all the time, fill cylenders with deisel, lwt it set.

it saves your engine from the water, i can count how many we have saved.

get a new rod and get on with the SAS!!!

Oh man sorry about your ride. Just remember that a yard 3.0 is gonna have to be gone through before ya get it in. Weigh the price of the known good 3.4 against that. And that and a dollar will almost buy a cold Mountain Dew at 7-11

Update:
I finally got the head off and there is only a "nick" in the cylinder wall below where the rings seal. So basically I decided on a full rebuild of the engine. I think I got away lucky on this one.

Just found your thread...always sucks when a day of fun turns out to a month or more of down time..I have been lucky when doing water...Hope the rebuild goes good and doesn't cut too much into your SAS budget..

I basically have all the parts for the SAS and thanks to the great guys at engnbldr.com I should be able to do both this summer. I am going to save $100 or so for a snorkel!!

The other half

Update:
Heres the other half of the carnage: (cell phone pic again)

If you look closely you can see the busted skirt on the far side.

took the heads/intake into work and they cleaned up pretty good in the steam cleaner. I'll be getting the rebuild kit/new rods from engnbldr soon. I got really lucky - all the exhaust studs came right out so I could pull the heads off easily. (gotta love Colorado cars!)
I'm gonna be doing the timing belt/oil pump as well.
If everything goes as planned I'll be driving around sometime next week with a practically new 3VZE - my friend can't drive it till he puts a snorkel on it!!
