Question removing/adding crossmembers to frame

vehicle: 1995 ext. cab pickup 3.0L 5-speed 4X4

I'm in the planing stages of installing Marlin's 5" SAS and 5" rear lift. I won't be putting a spare under the truck.

Would it be a wise idea to remove the crossmember that the spare hangs from and replacing it with a "C" shaped peice of steel? This will be welded at the very back of the frame. I'll have to relocate the rear shacle hangers, so this should add some strenght back there.

Where can I get a crossmember to mount the tops of the rear shocks to? I saw this one: http://www.offroadsolutions.com/imag...s/DCP_1138.jpg

any other sources?

Do you have a bender? Make your own shock hoop. Heres how I made mine...

The crossmember in the back you can replace with a piece of 2x3" (?) rectangle steel.....

Thanks for the pics. I like how you tied it in to the factory fuel tank crossmember.
No, I don't have a bender or know how to weld. I'm going to find a pic of the 2X3" rear crossmember and have the person that is doing the welding copy it. (A picture is worth a thousand words, right?).

It should fit right inside the frame rails. I cut mine out for a reciever hitch in the middle
